Overnight Oats with Formula 1

We all have an awareness of both healthy and unhealthy types of carbs with oats firmly taking pole position in the healthy category.  Oats have an incredibly well-balanced nutritional composition being high in a specific kind of fibre called beta-glucan, which is linked to overall heart health and lowering cholesterol levels.  In addition to this, the humble bowl of oats includes a good amount of protein, iron, thiamin, phosphorus and selenium as well as being a great source of manganese and magnesium. All of these contributing to greater energy levels, improved mood, and weight loss.

But, as healthy as a bowl of porridge is, let’s face it, it can taste a bit bland!  So, instead of just making porridge, give overnight oats a try.

Overnight oats are a popular breakfast choice with fitness professionals and those working towards health and fitness goals including weight loss.  They are super easy to make the night before which fits in perfectly with a busy lifestyle.  The principle is simple: grab a jar or something similar, layer up oats, liquid, fruit or flavourings and pop them in the fridge overnight.  By the time you’re ready for breakfast, they will be ready for you!

We have put together a recipe including our Formula 1 Shake Mix which packs in 25 vitamins and minerals, fibre, essential macronutrients as well as being rich in protein. Including our Vanilla Protein Drink mix and our Oat Apple Fibre you’ll be hard-pressed to find a healthier, and more delicious, breakfast!

Feel free to experiment as the ingredients we have used can be switched – for example you could try a different flavour of shake mix, or maybe you want to swap the pear for an apple.  The choice is yours.  Give it try – we know that you’ll love it.

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 240 minutes / overnight

Jar, lidded container or bowl with cling film.

Method:

  1. Finely chop the pear and add to a bowl with the Herbal Tea Concentrate, Oat Apple Fibre and 2 tablespoons of cold water. Stir together until well combined and set aside to allow the mixture to thicken while you prepare the oats.
    2. In a mason jar or small bowl, mix the rolled oats, Formula 1 Shake Mix and Vanilla Protein Drink Mix together with a fork. Gradually add the remaining water and keep stirring until it’s well blended.
  2. Spoon the pear mixture on top of the oats. Seal the jar with the lid or cover with cling film and place in the refrigerator for 4 hours, or ideally overnight.
    4. In the morning grab your oats from the fridge and you’re good to go!
